Block no. 7 of the Patchwork of the Crosses
Since I have been back to work, I have less time to stitch and it took me all week to complete this block. Last Sunday, I was organizing my fat quarters and I came across these fabrics and thought that I would give them a try. This block is a bit darker and more dramatic than block no. 6. The first picture has the block on two different fabrics. The more solid fabric is the fabric I bought intending to use on the connector blocks. The second fabric, I ordered from Keep on Quilting online, and I love it. Now, I have a dilemma. I am going to make some practice connectors and see which fabric looks the best next to the blocks. I want a fabric that will accent the blocks, not, take the focus away from the block. I'll keep you updated on my choice. I do have to say that the darker fabric is a mottled color and much prettier than it looks in the picture.

Block No. 6 of Patchwork of the Crosses by Lucy Boston
I completed another block today. Each one is more and more enjoyable to create. I, also, got in the fabric that I am going to use for the connecting blocks. The fabric is a little darker than I thought it would be but I think that it is going to work. I'll make some elongated hexagons with it and give it a try. I am using a picture editing that I found for free and I am not sure I am liking it because the pictures seem to turn out blurry.

Patchwork of the Crosses Block No. 5
I really loved the materials that I chose for the newest block. I love birds and I love the muted colors of the block.

Patchwork of the crosses block number 4
I was going through my stash looking for more fabric combinations when I rediscovered a civil war fat quarter from Marcus Brothers fabrics. I decided to make it the focal point of this patchwork cross. This cross is a bit darker than previous ones, but, I love the colors. Now on to choosing my next fabrics.

Block number 3
I completed my third block of Patchwork of the Crosses by Lucy Boston. I was going through my stash and I found a fat quarter with beautiful bouquets of tulips. I love tulips, so , I knew this was going to be the focal point of the block. After much deliberation and second guessing, I finally chose the other three fabrics for the block. I posted it on Facebook and my friend, Jan,of featherweight quilting on etsy, showed me a picture of a block that she had made several years ago that had the same tulips! Amazing!
Because of the popularity and the sharing of my pics on the Facebook quilting groups, I decided I needed to download an app to label my pictures. The writing is in blue, Kentucky blue of course!

Second Block
Today I completed the second block of the Patchwork of the Crosses. This block is not from a kit and I chose the fabrics. I love how the fabric in the middle looks like wood. There is a lot of symbolism in this block. I find myself humming, "The Old Rugged Cross" while looking at it. I plan on making a variety of blocks for this quilt but this block will be in the center of the quilt, just like Christ should be in the center of our lives.
